Post-graduate training for definitive health care providers:

Many of the most severe chemical and biological casualties can and will survive if you have the right training. The Medical Management of Chemical and Biological Casualties Course (MCBC) delivers the highest standard of training in the world. Don’t take our word for it; ask the Government Accountability Office (GAO 2004 Report) or one of your colleagues who has taken the course.

In the classroom, expect graduate level academic expertise in a fun and exciting setting. You may meet world renowned guest speakers of historical importance to the field. Every student receives a remote control to participate in live polling during lessons. Questions and discussion are encouraged during these activities.

Outside of class, there are laboratories for the cholinergic crisis, patient diagnosis, treatment and procedures. Practical experience is delivered in the form of patient triage and interview exercises. Crisis management skills are rehearsed in a mega-code environment with robotic manikins. There will be an opportunity to see a BSL-4 laboratory, meet the vaunted aeromedical isolation team and see the “Slammer”. The practical field training, performed in protective gear, gets to the point and prepares you for the next really bad day in WMD land.

MCBC is a fully accredited six day course held at both USAMRICD, Aberdeen Proving Ground and at USAMRIID, Fort Detrick, Maryland. MCBC is typically attended by physicians, nurses, physician assistants, senior medical NCOs and many other kinds of medical professionals. People from every military service as well as civilians are encouraged to attend.

Every participant receives an educator’s kit including two new volumes of the Textbook of Military Medicine, pocket handbooks and the new MMCC DVD-ROM 5.0 that contains prepared lecture slides, computer learning software, reference items and videos. Additional copies of materials may be obtained by asking.

This course meets the mandatory chemical/biological training requirements under MEDCOM Policy 14-062. MCBC goes on your officer record brief.
